There are a number of indicators which show that a company is heading into troubled waters -- however much the company’s
management may try to conceal them by putting on a brave face. These signs, their unmistakable identities and their relative
importance, are accurately described by the authors who have spent years either working at risk management in the corporate world or
observing and recording the behaviour of entrepreneurs and risk-takers.
A company which is slipping towards insolvency can cause problems for many people and organizations -- whether they are lenders,
investors, employees, suppliers or customers.
But Corporate Collapse does far more than provide a series of danger signals. It also details a variety of possible
remedial activities. It shows how to identify the causes and the deal with the effects. It shows at best how an organization, large,
medium or small, may be saved and set on a path to recovery. It shows how, at worst, it is possible to reduce the risk of injury
from flying debris when a complete or partial collapse is unavoidable.
Between them the two authors have world-wide experience, McRobert as a banker and finance professional, Hoffman as a business
journalist, writer and broadcaster.. Their book is not a detached academic observation of the scene. Instead it is an involved,
accessible, practical and essentially hands-on guide for those who must wrest a living from a commercial world which refuses to behave
in a predictable and orderly fashion.
Andrew McRobert has spent almost thirty years in Australasian corporate banking and finance, as a practitioner and as
creator and presenter of his successful training seminar “Managing Problem Loans”. His world experience widened during his years
as head of risk management for the private sector group of the Asian Development Bank.
Ronnie Hoffman spent two decades as a journalist, author and broadcaster in Europe where he developed a special interest
in business and finance. For the past twenty years he has been based in Australia where he writes, broadcasts and creates information
and training guides for management and industry.
